Wanted: Photos and Directories from Nodaway County

The NCHS Museum is looking for photos of places or people of Nodaway County. If you do not want to donate them, we can just scan them for the museum collection. Also wanted are old city or county directories - we have many, but hope to fill gaps in our collection. Call Margaret Kelley at 660-582-8176 or Melissa Middleswart at 582-8687.

Maryville music teacher and enthusiastic suffragist Alma Nash organized in 1913 America's first all-women's marching band for a parade in Washington D.C. planned by a number of women's rights organizations. The Maryville Ladies Military Band reportedly quieted angry male protesters with music while the parade organizers waited for the cavalry to come clear a path through the mob.
